Cyclone
Hud-Hud Relief in Coastal North Andhra Pradesh |
On October
12, 2014 Cyclone Hudhud pounded the coastal districts of Andhra
Pradesh and Odisha with heavy rain and winds of almost 200 kmph
leaving a trail of devastation with Visakhapatnam bearing the
brunt of nature's fury.
Lakhs of people suffered immense damage
of property and life from the unprecedented rain and wind;
atleast a 109 people were reported to be dead due to the
cyclone.
Brethren and Lodges of the Regional Grand Lodge of
Southern India teamed up with other volunteer groups and
individuals to render immediate help to the affected people.
Food and Other Essential Commodities

Brethren at Rajahmundry picked up several food and edible
items that were rushed by road as soon as the roads were
cleared of fallen trees and utility poles and such

Brethren in Vizag handled the orderly distribution of these
food items to the most needy

other ailments arising from cold, rain and severe wind as
fever, dysentery, respiratory diseases; and other first aid
requirements
